The Sunrise News is an independent online news organization. We were founded in 2022 and launched our website in 2023.
We focus our work in two places. News coverage that works to make it easy for our readers to stay informed and lifestyles pieces that celebrate interesting people, places and communities in Alabama.
Our mission
Our goal is to inform our readers in an ethical manner, putting their good above the personal interest of any of our staff. We want to create a place where readers can feel confident that even if they disagree with us, they can still trust us.
The Sunrise News was founded upon the idea that good journalism is a public service, whether or not is being done by a non-profit or for-profit business. This is why our slogan is “where news is personal” because news is personal when the people covering the news genuinely care about their audience.
If you’re interested in staying up to date with The Sunrise News, you can sign-up for our newsletter. It’s free, and includes exclusive content and updates on The Sunrise News. It’ll also make sure that you never miss an article.
Our ethics

- Seek truth and report it
- Minimize harm
